How to repair flaking slate flooring?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about repairing your flaking slate floor.
Before I make any recommendations, would it be possible for you to post a few pictures of the slate floor? This will allow our members to assess the condition of your slate floor. We can then offer recommendations on how to fix it.
Flaking often happens when there is a build-up of effloresce. Stress builds up in the slate and flaking is what happens when the stress needs to be released.
