Do you need to use nails when installing Laminex Surround boards?

On the video that lainex supplies you of installation they show putting liquid nails on the studs, sticking it onto the wall and then nails on top of that. Is that all necessary or would it also work just to put lots of liquid nails underneath the boards before putting it on, because the demi round is quite narrow would be hard to fit nails in between?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @vickitunley. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing Laminex Surround panels.

Surround by Laminex is made from Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). MDF responds to the surrounding environment's humidity and temperature, affecting the product's moisture content and resulting in panel dimensional change. Due to this, it's important that the product is installed according to the manufacturer's instructions. The specifications on interference spacing are all based on the fixing method they've recommended. If the sheets are not fixed according to instructions, they could contact walls, floors or adjacent boards and distort. 

When you say the demi round is quite narrow, where do you intend to place the nail? I would have thought that the nail would be going in the peak and not the trough, so there should be enough room to fix off there.

You could always not nail the panels, but you'll find it hard to secure them in place whilst the glue dries, and if you have distortion issues with the boards in the future, that obviously wouldn't be covered by the manufacturer.
