What is the best wood for beehives?

Thank you for sharing your question about what timber is best to use when building beehives. The most popular ones are hoop pine, cypress pine and hardwoods. Whichever one you choose, my best recommendation is to make sure to seal the beehive to protect it from the weather. I recommend using Bondall 1L Gloss Monocel Gold Marine Clear Timber Varnish or Dulux 1L Vivid White Low Sheen Weathershield Exterior Paint. Make sure that the sealer or paint has totally cured before using the beehive box.
