Hi Team,
I am needing to trim the bottom of some H4 pine posts before putting them in the ground. What is the best way to restore the H4 preservation qualities on the cut end of the post? Can in fact this be done in the field?
Regards,
Termite
Hello @102028
Is it possible for you to bury the other side of the post and have the cut end pointing up? If it is, I suggest using TWA Woodcare 300g Ecoseal Tanalised Timber Treatment. However, if the cut section really needs to go towards the bottom, I recommend using Bondall 1L Inground Timber Protector. Both products can be applied in the field.
I also suggest having a quick look at this discussion - Protecting treated pine cuts by @Harv.
Please make sure to wear personal protection such as disposable gloves, goggles and a paint mask when using the sealer.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
