How to seal a screened verandah?

We have an older weatherboard house with a lovely insect screened verandah. Over the last 6 months we’ve noticed black “stuff” on the floor and realized it is coming from the space between the corrugations of the roof and the top frame of the screen wall, leaving gaps. And washing to prep for painting outside has only exacerbated it. 
Can I confirm the black stuff is called corrugated infill?

Can it be replaced without taking roof panels off?

Is DIY viable?

Is there an easier alternative?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @LeahMT. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sealing corrugated sheeting.

You would be correct that the material is corrugated infill. You'll need to remove the remaining material and then loosen the last row of screws on the roof sheeting. You'll then be able to compress and insert the new corrugated infill. Once you've positioned it, you can screw the sheeting back down, which will compress the infill. It might just be the image, but your sheets don't appear to be screwed tightly down. If this is the case, you might be able to squeeze the infill in without loosening the screws.

It's certainly D.I.Y.-able and is most likely the easiest method of resealing the sheets. Since you'll be working at height, have a read through this helpful guide on How to use ladders safely.
