How to insulate a wide wall?

I have recently clad my shed and put a frame inside in preparation for plastering and conversion to a room. I am unsure how to insulate though given it’s wider than average. 35mm timber frame each side of a 110mm steel frame - total of 180mm. Do I need to fill the full thickness in insulation or  the outside timber frame, inside timber frame etc? And what is the best way to this? Multiple thickness of insulation fitted around each of the frames?

You don't need to fill the entire depth, and in many cases, having an air gap as an isolation point helps stop heat transfer from the outer surface. I know a few of our insulation suppliers suggest that having an air gap greatly improves the insulation value of their products. I'd aim to fill the 110mm gap between the timber frames. Our 145mm thick insulation batts would likely be the best choice, albeit slightly compressed. Alternatively, you could drop down to 90mm thick insulation.
