How to convert a 900mm Rangehood Cabinet to fit a 600mm slidout rangehood?

Hello,

We have a kaboodle 900mm rangehood cabinet that we need to fit a 600mm slideout ranghood into (Westinghouse WRR604SB). Is there an easy way to do this, like creating a melamine fly-in/floating shelf that would sit somehow in the 900mm shelf?

Some expert advice would be amazing if anyone has had the same issue previously.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your rangehood cabinet.

It is technically possible to install a 600mm rangehood into a 900mm rangehood cabinet. Generally speaking, the cabinet must be removed from the wall as the shelf inside will probably need to be adjusted and odds are it is anchored into the back of the cabinet.

It will also be necessary to build custom sides for the smaller rangehood. These must be anchored securely as they will support the weight of the rangehood. I suggest having a look at the installation instruction of the rangehood and you'll see where the fixing points will be required.    

It will not look pretty as large gaps will be visible at the sides of the smaller rangehood. Have you considered replacing the rangehood cabinet with a proper 600mm cabinet and filling the side gaps with 150mm wall cabinets? This will also save you from having to create custom mounting inside the 900mm cabinet.
