How to prepare a bathroom wall for tiling?

hi, I am renovating my bathroom. I have removed the old tiles on the walls and the shower area. The wall is brick with a plaster coat, and where the shower was appear to be some hard water proofing bond coat or similar. 

i am unsure what the appropriate prep for the walls should be before tiling. Seeking advice.

i am thinking;

- clean the walls

- apply a bonding coat, or waterproof bonding coat, such as Dunlop rapid bond coat or crommelin waterproof shower membrane.

would this be enough?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bathroom renovation.

Just a friendly reminder to check with your local council regarding the rules and regulations regarding the application of waterproofing in your shower area. Quite often waterproofing must be applied by a trained and licensed professional for safety and compliance. 

Both the products you mentioned can be used for your shower. However, I suggest using the Dunlop Waterproofing brand rather than mixing it with another brand such as Crommelin. The Crommelin waterproofing has its own surface primer and its best to use like for like. Please note that when waterproofing is applied it is applied as a single membrane and that includes your shower floor wet area. You'll notice this as the old hard waterproofing bond coat connects to the floor and continues under the flooring tiles. This means that the floor tiles in your shower area must be removed as well.
