How to build a shed extension?

Hello Everyone,

I am building a shed in my carport making the walls out of wood (Treated timber on the base) what is the best product to use for the external walls is plywood good to use something like Ply Panelwood Grooved 9mm? Open to other alternatives. This shed will be an extension of my current shed i have.

Ply I would use as a last resort as even if painted will not last as long as other products.

I would use sheets of colorbond fencing panel low cost at around $30 just screw them to the frame ( make sure there is some middle framing timber to support it in a wind storm or there are roofing panels of plastic and galvanised steel. Gal roofing tends to be of thicker metal than wall materials so costs a little more but you may reap the longer life rewards for your project.

Also there is a whole range of Textured cement cladding

You could go old school timber weather board. Or modern aluminium material equivalence.

If this is a feature add on spend more on its looks as a guide.

Search in Bunnings for external wall cladding see what draws you attention.

Thank you for your question about choosing a cladding for your shed.

Plywood is not typically used as external cladding as it is not as weather-resistant as alternatives.

Fibre cement cladding systems such as Hardie Groove or Hardie Oblique Cladding are great options. They are usually part of a system that includes accessories like these Aluminium External Trim Corners to minimise the risk of water ingress.

Weatherboards, both timber and fibre cement are also good options.

As @Jewelleryrescue has said, corrugated metal sheeting such as Colourbond is also a good option.
