How to fix Ozito 125 mm 18v cordless grinder that keeps stopping?

l bought an Ozito 125 mm 18v cordless grinder about a month ago. I only used it once on and off for about ten minutes to cut thin steel downpipe and it operated great. But l tried to use it yesterday and about 8-10 seconds after l start the grinder it shuts off, l need to turn it off then on again and it keeps doing the same thing. It is practically unusable. It definitely isn't overheated overheated. Is this a common problem?

I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Ozito 18v Cordless Grinder.

I've found with cordless grinders that intermittent stopping is often due to a low battery. Angle grinders are particularly draining on batteries, so checking that your battery is fully charged is a good first step.

If you find the battery is not the cause of the issue, then there may be a fault with the grinder which would be covered by the warranty. I'd suggest taking the grinder back to your local store with your receipt so it can be exchanged for a new one.

If you can't locate your receipt, a manager at the store of purchase should be able to reprint it if you can locate the date and time of the transaction on your bank statement.

If you find the battery is the cause of your issue, a higher amp hour (Ah) battery like this Ozito PXC 6.0Ah Max. Battery will give you much better runtimes and performance.

Hi Jacob, l feel a bit of a fool you were right about the battery being flat. I saw all the green lights lit up and thought the battery was fully charged but of course they are displaying the speed. 🤯Thanks for your advice.

Thanks Jacob, l have 2 X 4OAH l think my problem was l used it straight out of the box instead of fully charging it first.

I'd say you're on the money there.

It's always best to charge them up before use as they only come with a small amount of charge so they can be tested before purchase.

a couple of other points worth noting is that the batteries have electronic control systems that will cut power to the tool even when fully charged in situations of excessive loads to protect both the tool and battery. Same goes with excessive heat over prolonged heavy use.

As with any power tool the idea is you let the tool do the work. But this is more so with cordless ones. Grinders are tools they tend to get leaned on heavily especially when grinding. Keeping the revs up will result in longer runtimes and less heat. Using higher capacity batteries will also give you more grunt with longer runtime's especially on power hungry tools like grinders and saws.
