How to remove weeds and grow lawn?

 I can't let me 2 year old play outside because our yards are full of prickles and bindis! My dog gets covered in them when we let her outside also and then they get brought into the house and stuck in her hair! Help what can I use to get rid of the bindis l & prickles and what can I use to grow some nice green grass?

To tackle the problem effectively, it’s important to understand the lifecycle of bindii. The best time to spray for bindii is in late September or early October when the plant begins to grow but hasn’t yet produced its seed pods. Applying a selective herbicide designed for broadleaf weeds during this period will kill the plants before they form the sharp prickles. Once the prickles have formed, the bindii has already set seed, and your only option is to manually remove the plants by digging them out.

Given the current condition of your lawn, it may be best to start fresh. Begin by killing off all weeds using a non-selective herbicide like Zero. This will eliminate both bindii and other unwanted plants. Afterward, prepare the area by aerating the soil to break up compaction and improve drainage. Adding a layer of top soil can also enhance soil quality. Once the soil is ready, you can either lay turf for an instant green lawn or sow grass seeds for a more cost-effective solution. Be sure to water the lawn consistently during its establishment phase and follow up with a regular lawn care routine, including fertilising and mowing, to keep it healthy and weed-free.
