What cavity door lock is unlockable from both sides?

We are trying to keep a pet out of the garage, but want people to be able to lock and unlock the sliding door easily from both sides.

Are there any brass locks or latches that you can unlock with fingers (not a screwdriver or coin) from both sides? Not sure if that's even possible.

I am NOT ooking for a latch or lock that unlocks with a screw driver or coin like the one pictures.

Or what other options are there to unlock a door from either side, but which cats cannot open.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your cavity door lock.

The only cavity door locks I'm aware of that can be closed and opened from both sides is the Gainsborough Satin Chrome Connecting Circular Sliding Cavity Door Set. This unit comes in a polished or satin finish so please choose carefully. I also suggest having a look at the store's door lock installation service for convenience. Please note that this product can only be purchased from the store's special orders desk.

What you are looking for is a sliding door communicating latch or cavity sliding door snib both sides, cavity sliding door lock double thumb turn. If you google any of the above you will find what you are looking for. I have only ever seen them in a round fitting and you will need to put it on separate to what you already have. Similar to fitting a deadbolt. JDE
