How to remove glue residue on tap mixer?

We had quite a bit of glue residue (assuming it is?!) around the tap mixer, we’ve tried a few products and methods but can’t seem to get rid of it. But also cos it’s matte, it scratches really easily so haven’t ‘scrubbed’ it fiercely to try remove the glue.

I propose using a soft timber toothpick in combination with De-Solv-it 125ml Sticky Spot and Stain Remover. It uses a natural citrus base to dissolve or soften adhesives. Spray it on the affected area and scrub and pick the glue off with the toothpick. Once it's clean wipe the tap mixer with a soft cloth to remove any residual stain remover.

It looks like the white buildup around your tap mixer is more likely hard water scale buildup, rather than glue. While Eric's suggestion is great for removing adhesives, for mineral deposits like hard water scale, a different approach is needed.

A simple home remedy you can try is a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water. Soak a soft cloth or sponge in the solution and apply it to the affected area for about 10-15 minutes. The acidity in the vinegar will help dissolve the scale. After soaking, gently wipe away the buildup, being careful not to scratch the surface.

However, since your tap mixer has a matte black finish, I recommend testing the vinegar solution on a small, inconspicuous section first to ensure it doesn't damage or discolour the paint.
