Hi everyone. I've done a bunch of DIY and handywork around the house, but have never done any masonry drilling before, so feeling a little out of my element in regards to sizes/lengths of plugs, screws, and bits.
I want to hang a 15kg wall mirror in my living room, which according to the owner is brick covered in hard plaster. The mirror has 2 mounting brackets on the back, shown in the photos below.
From what I've read, it seems like I should be using a wall plug and drill bit of the same diameter, and a screw that has a smaller diameter but a longer length, so it sticks out when fully driven? So drill 40mm deep with a 6mm masonry bit, tap in a 6x40mm wall plug, and drive in a 5x45mm screw? Would those dimensions support the weight of a 15kg mirror in brick?
Would very much appreciate any info, help, or advice!
Thanks in advance.
Brendan
