How to repaint concrete interior walls?

Hello everyone!

Just bought a 1 bedroom unit which has concrete and some plaster walls. Plaster is for the plumbing voids.
Am wanting to DIY repaint it, but am just wondering the steps/ products required for a repaint of concrete walls and can the same paint be used for both wall types?

Yes the modern paints acrylics water based (Any brands are good these days) are suitable for both plaster and concrete walls as long as they cleaned of loose dust and oils etc ie kitchen fats Use a bit of sugar soap to wash them at need,

No under coat required I recommend a Roller on a pole handle for faster work and a 25mm paint brush for the corners of areas etc a roller can't reach into the edges.

Concrete and plaster walls can have different preparation requirements, but if these surfaces are already painted, you're essentially painting over paint, which simplifies the process. In this case, preparation primarily involves ensuring the surface is clean and free of dirt or grease. Using sugar soap is an excellent choice for this, as it effectively removes grime and grease from painted walls.

Once the walls are clean and dry, a wall paint like Dulux Wash and Wear is suitable. You likely won’t need an undercoat unless the existing paint is in poor condition, or you’re making a significant colour change. Using a roller with a pole for larger areas and a brush for edges and corners will make the job quicker and easier.

If there are any imperfections or cracks in the concrete or plaster, be sure to fill and sand them smooth before you start painting for the best results.
