How to treat camellia and pansy with spots on leaves?

Hi everyone, 

I've had plants die before so might be over-anxious, but just checking if the camellia (leaves with brown spots) and pansy (white spots on leaves) have been affected by some kind of illness/mildew? 

If so, what would be helpful to treat them?

It’s completely understandable to be cautious, especially if you’ve had plants die before. From your description, it sounds like your camellia might have a fungal or bacterial issue, as brown spots on the leaves can be a sign of camellia leaf spot, sunburn, or even a nutrient deficiency. If the spots are dry and crispy, it could be sun damage, while softer or spreading spots may indicate a fungal problem. Trimming off the worst-affected leaves and applying a copper-based fungicide such as Yates 200ml Liquid Copper Fungicide from Bunnings can help if it’s fungal. Ensuring good airflow and avoiding overhead watering will also reduce future issues.

As for the pansy, white spots on the leaves often suggest powdery mildew, which is common in humid or crowded conditions. If the spots are more like tiny specks, it could also be insect-related, like sap-sucking pests. A spray of Yates 750ml Fungus Gun Systemic Disease Spray can help combat powdery mildew. If pests are the issue, a gentle spray of soapy water should help.
