How to treat dead patch in Buffalo lawn?

Hey all, any help would be appreciated. This patch developed in Buffalo lawn early to mid February, has a real delineation line, the affected area seems to have cut off blades and thatchy underneath. Anyway the web indicates could be Pest could be fungus. Does anyone have any suggestions?

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fabulous to have you with us.

This is a very odd one indeed and to be honest I don't know what it could be. It honestly just looks like you've mowed one section, and it hasn't grown since then.

Is there anything that lines up with this delineation line? Perhaps shade from the house? Is there any reflective surface close to this patch of lawn? Do you water the lawn regularly?

Considering it seems thatchy, for some general care that won't harm the lawn, you might like dethatch it. Check out How To Dethatch Your Lawn for some guidance.

You should also consider applying a buffalo-specific lawn fertiliser such as Lawn Builder 1L Scotts Buffalo Slow Release Liquid Lawn Fertiliser to give it some nutrients to bounce back from whatever is harming it.

Evening @Hoedy

I wonder if some cleaning product has been thrown out onto the grass? It dosnt look too bad which is good. I like the idea of a slow release fertilizer and keeping it watered. The new blades of grass look healthy so I would be hopping that with a little feed and time it will bounce back.

Could well be lawn grubs. Try adding a small amount of detergent to a bucket of water and then pouring it over a small area of the "damaged" lawn. If there are grubs or beetles present, they will come to the surface. Then you can apply an appropriate lawn grub treatment. No grubs, then that is not the problem. Doesn't look fungal to me.

Jacob;s suggestions re dethatching and then applying a slow release buffalo lawn food are good advice regardless of the problem.
