How to get glue off tiles?

G'day team,

Just a quick one. Long story short I flooded my laundry (issue is now fixed, only to be replaced with another) my flooring was laminate floorboards of which I removed only to find they had been also glued down on top of the existing tiles.

Does anyone know how to get rid of builders glue? That will not destroy the tiles more than they already are? Any advice would be amazing 😊

Sorry to hear about the flooding, I suggest using Trojan Safety Scraper With 5 Blades. Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves and goggles when scrapping the glue off the floor. As much as I would like to suggest a chemical cleaner it might damage the finish of your tiles. It will be a bit tedious, but the final results will be worth it.

I think your best bet is to use a scraper like @EricL recommended or one like this style. Keep turning over the blades so you regularly have a razor sharp edge. Wiggle the blades through the glue whilst doing your best not to dig in to the tiles.

I went straight to the same scraper that @EricL has shown, with maybe some ice cubes sitting on top of the glue before hitting with the scraper. Also the other way with a heat gun to "warm" and I do mean only warm, not roast the glue and then hit it with the scraper. Or a combo of both, heat gun to remove most and then freeze to "crack" from the tile and clear the leftovers?

Slow and steady will work it down to a smaller footprint and then it will be gone. 🙂
