How to fix noisy (new) kitchen mixer tap?

I have a theoretically 'new' tap installed by a licensed plumber at a huge cost. I want nothing more to do with this guy. It is a noisy tap and wish to use tap silicone after I dismantle kitchen mixer

all the tap parts (I've replaced the aerator) However I can't undo the nut inside the mixer housing where you remove the red and blue plastic plug. It's not a grub screw it has an internal thread so needs a special socket spanner...less than a deep drive 6mm which doesn't fit through the hole which is 6.5mm. What type of socket spanner is used please?

Thank you for sharing those photos of your tap mixer. My first impression is that it looks like a grub screw that has been rounded off. But as you mentioned it is not a grub screw and I'm probably just not seeing this fixing screw correctly. If you are needing a small diameter socket spanner, I propose looking at the Craftright 26 Piece Ratchet Screwdriver Set which has various hex head sizes. There are other kits available at the store, I suggest checking them out and see which one you think is suitable for your needs.
