How to connect the PVC joins for my down pipes?

Im installing new down pipes to my house for a rain water tank and im having issues getting the connection on. 

The down pipe im connecting to a 45 degree into the ground then to the pipe under ground but im having issues being able to push the pipe into the 45 and then into the T join. Im sure there must be a simple knack to do it

Just a friendly reminder that any plumbing works must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.

Would it be possible for you to post a few photos of the joins you are trying to accomplish. Generally speaking, if the joins have the proper ends to them then they should slot in without too much effort, but if they are in reverse then it would be impossible to join them together. Once we see the parts that you have, we'll be able to offer recommendations on how to proceed.
