How to seal sides of car port?

Hello Awesome community people..

Just hear to get some ideas around how can I fix this problem at hand?

I want to cover this space in the carport side. I want this to be waterproof, if not at least water resistant. DIY friendly solution is welcomed.

Location - Melbourne urban

Measurement - H - 2.3M

Width in between pillar - 5 M

Pillar width - 0.6M

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

To make this space waterproof, you would have to build some timber frames between the pillars using Treated Structural Pine, with plascourse attached to the faces of the timber that touch the brick or concrete. Have a look at How To Build a Stud Wall for an example of a stud wall being constructed..

Once the frame is in place, it will need to be bolted to the concrete and brick pillars using dynabolts or ankascrews and to the ceiling using screws.

When the frame is fixed in place, the outside should be covered with house wrap such as this Ametalin 1370mm x 30m VapourTech Brane VHP Vapour Permeable Wall Insulation.

You would then seal the seams around the frame with something like byute flashing tape or Sikaflex 11FC Purform that will prevent water seeping through the seams.

The frame would then be clad on both sides with a weather-resistant material such as fibre cement cladding or weatherboard, following the installation instructions of the particular cladding used closely.

Once the cladding is installed, all the seams should be filled with exterior no more gaps, and nail and screw holes with a suitable filler and everything should be painted with 3 coats of exterior paint.

Every step of this process is possible as a D.I.Y. solution, although there is a fair bit to it.

Because I don't need anything fancy or permanent. Can these panels be used?

That Ekodeck product will be a great decretive solution to clad the wall, but as @JacobZ mentioned, you would still a need the timber frame to fix it to.

However with your 2.3m opening height, each board will have 900mm off-cut. This would need to be butt-joined to save waste and additional noggins in the frame to support the join. At around $16/Lm its not a cheap gladding either when compared to weatherboards that he also suggested.

Have you considered bistro blinds? They would offer a very good almost weatherproof solution, and allow plenty of light into the carport with a level of UV protection. Also an easy DIY installation which will give you side access to the carport should you ever need.

I went with treated timber and corrugated iron. Not pretty, but cost effective.

If you were looking for the garage to be waterproof, then you would need to go with an approach like the one I detailed initially.

If it were simply water resistance you were looking for, we could reduce the extent to which it is constructed.

Like @Nailbag said, you would still need a timber frame for a cladding material like the Ekodeck 219 x 26mm 3.6m Carbon Batten Screen Castellated Panels, but you could skip the house wrap and sealing the frame to the concrete and pillars.

If you are looking for something that isn't fancy or permanent, bistro blinds would be an excellent option. To use them, you would just need to line the openings with timber to mount them to.

Update - Melbourne weather wasn't good at all. I just ordered all the stuff and now will be back end product next week may be.
