How to fix hairline crack in grout?

Hi,

I’ve noticed a hairline crack in the grout between a tile and the inbuilt shelf frame in our shower.  

Is this sized crack anything to worry about and if so is there a way to simple fill the crack or is the proper repair to remove and replace the grout?

Hello @Db2 

Thanks for sharing your question about the hairline crack in your grout line. It does not appear to be too severe and does not pose any immediate danger of water entering the gap. For a quick fix I suggest using a gloved finger and applying UNi-PRO 500g Multi Purpose Interior Filler onto the hairline crack. Clean the surface immediately and don't allow the filler to dry on the tile. 

However, if you feel that a larger patch must be applied you can also remove the surface of the grout using a QEP Double-Sided Grout Removal Tool. Once the channel is deep enough, I suggest applying Dunlop 800g Ready-To-Go Coloured Grout - White. Use a QEP 6" Handyman Squeegee or similar device to push and level the grout at the same time. Please clan the tile surface as soon as you can to prevent the grout from drying on the surface of the tile.
