I have been rebuilding my front yard after pulling out most of the lawn. I built raised garden beds and paths. I installed a fountain and a small privacy screen for a cafe nook to enjoy the winter sun. I soon realised there wasn't must privacy, so decided to extend my screen.
I then designed a wrap around curved garden bed and screen to achieve this. This project is for the screen component.
I gained the idea from the MIGS this year. The garden Re-set had a square screen with a reo-like frame.
This is my first project in this workshop.
Steps
Step 1
Curving the screen:
Lie metal screen on solid surface.
Place a heavy timber ie sleeper across screen in direction of bend.
Gently pull frame up towards you for only a short bend to avoid "kinking"
After your gentle bend each section, check if curved enough.
Step 2
Mount on raised garden bed edging:
Clamp Metal Frame onto edge of garden bed, checking level and positioning.
Clamp both metal frames together and tie together in 3 sections with wire.
Attach Metal Frames to edging using stainless steel bolt,nut and mudguard washer.
Step 3
Mount Timber End Support:
Attach timber to end of wire frame, then attach to garden bed edge.
I curved the top section for interest.
Attach wire to timber using copper saddle clamps
Step 4
Finish frame with Spray Paint:
I wanted to match the corten garden bed
I lined the corten garden bed with plastic, and planted out with seedlings. But that's all another project!
Step 5
Create decorative infill square panels to mount in frame:
Well, its not really private yet....
I'm going to mount squares of timber in some of the metal frames. ( 140mm x 140mm)
Above is a demo square before I cut another 32.
2 small cup hooks are attached at the top.

To add interest, I filled half the remaining squares with perspex the same size. 6mm thickness.
Because the "squares" are all on hooks, you can easily change the pattern.
