How to replace non-standard bathroom door?

I have recently bought an apartment with a glass bathroom door. I need to change this, it is awful!

The space is 695mm x 2035mm.

I am realising this is not a standard door size.

I am not sure which doors I can purchase which I will be able to cut down to size. I presume it is possible but I also thought some internal doors had a hollow core so it might not be possible if I need to cut 12-22cm from the width.

Has anyone had this issue before - recommendations on how to proceed please!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Unfortunately, as you can only trim a maximum of 3mm from each edge of a hollow core door, you would not be able to use a standard-sized, off-the-shelf hollow core door. If you'd like to use a hollow core door, I'd suggest speaking to the team at the Special Orders desk of your local store, as they can order made-to-measure hollow core doors from our supplier Hume Doors & Timber. When ordering, make sure you factor in the 3mm gap required on the top and both sides of the door, as well as a 10mm gap at the bottom. Check out the "How to install a door" guide at the top of their Installation Instructions page for some guidance.

The alternative to this is using a solid core timber door, such as this Hume 2040 x 820 x 35mm External Door Duracote Flush STPC and trim it to size.

Just to clarify, STPC stands for Solid Timber Pine Core. There is another door that Hume makes called a Solicore door, which is labelled as SCX1. This is not the door you are after. It has an outer frame with an MDF core that would be exposed when cut. Have a look at Hume - Flush Doors for some further information.

I see three alternatives, The easiest is a solid core door that you can get away with cutting down, a custom made hollow core door or the final option you may not have considered, a glass door must have the possibility to be reglazed if the glass gets broken, so remove the glass and replace it with timber. You can add all types of mouldings to make the door look more luxurious, it is just limited by your imagination.

Just a quick point on the sizing of any replacement. In WA we have the hinges to bathrooms made capable of the door being jacked off the hinges. This is incase someone colapses behind the door and it can't be opened by emergency services. You should first check if there is a large clearance at the top of the door to allow this (the door has to have clearance to be jacked up) before specifying a size for a custom made door.
