How to secure log posts as garden edging?

Hi!

We have chosen to use cylindrical posts as our garden edging/sleepers for enclosing our kids play area.

We have also recently had the paving completed and they have used cement on the edge of the paving which is where we would like the posts sit. 

My questions are:

1. What is the best way to secure the post to the ground and edge of the paving. We were thinking something like a cane shaped peg so the post can at least be secured on one side. 

2. How do I join the posts end to end to cover the entire distance of the edge? Is there such thing as a double ended screw or nail?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

I'd suggest using these Sleeper Peg Flat Stake and Sleeper Peg Corner Stakes to secure your garden edging in place. You could drive them into the ground, pre-drill holes and then drive some batten screws into the logs to lock them in place.

Where there are straight joins, you could use the flat stakes to bridge the join. You could also use Strap Nails, which are simply hammered in place, if you'd like to further secure the straight joins.
