How to fix missing concrete floor epoxy?

Hi all, I’m looking for some advice how best to fix up this garage/rumpus room floor.  The area previously had a fire place where the epoxy coating ran up to, we’ve removed the fireplace and now would like to epoxy coat the rest of the bare concrete, but would like to try and get the join/edge to look as nice as possible, so if anyone has any experience or suggestions it would be appreciated.

You could potentially sand the edge of the existing epoxy if it’s raised or rough at the transition, and then coat the bare section right up to that point. That should tidy it up, though you’ll almost certainly still notice the join line because of the difference between the new and old coatings.

If you want the best possible result, you’d need to sand and key the entire floor — both the previously coated section and the bare concrete — and then recoat everything in one go. That way, the transition blends in properly and you end up with a uniform finish across the whole room.

Since this is an area that already has an epoxy coating, I’d recommend reaching out to the Dymark technical team directly. They can give you guidance on surface prep and whether their product will bond well when going over both an old coating and bare concrete.
