How to build a new pool gate?

hi wondering if anyone has any ideas. I would like to install a pool gate between two brick walls. The ground is poured limestone. I was hoping to fix the gate post on the wall but can’t find any ideas online. Hoping someone has an idea. Since it is an entry to the pool area it has to comply with pool fencing regulations. Picture of the access way below with the wall and brick pillar. Thanks

Thanks for sharing your question about building a pool gate. I propose using 100 x 100mm 2.4m Post H4 Treated Pine Wet CCA - 2.4m on each side and anchoring it to your wall using Dynabolts or Ramset AnkaScrews. I then suggest building a split D.I.Y pine fence gate so that the weight will be split between the two posts. One gate can be locked in place using a Pinnacle 300mm Galvanised Drop Bolt and the pool ProtectorAl G8Safe Black Key Lockable Trilatch Pool Gate Latch can be installed on the other.

I suggest having a quick look at this discussion in regards to the fence gate - D.I.Y. fence gate by @Oreoprojects. However, if the pool inspector insists on fixing the other door in place, I recommend using a large angle galvanized bracket at the bottom and anchoring it permanently in place.

I am wondering what the distance between the pillar and your wall is?

I just went looking for a similar styled gat to your fence and found this ProtectorAl 975 x 1200mm Black Aluminium Flat Top Pool Gate I presume there are other styles that match your existing fence. I like the way @EricL has suggeste dto attach the gate to the wall via a piece of timber. That certainly seems to be the best option to make sure the brackets are anchored. As to "filling out" the left over area, depending on the distance, you could go with a thicker post against the wall (secured to teh wall) and a post secured to the pillar.

Thanks Dave, the distance is approx 1.3 up to the protruding ledge of the pillar. Will give it some thought but really appreciate your help.

Hi Dave, I did a little drawing with measurements. If I used 100x 100 timber posts and installed a 975 mm protector gate, taking into account a 10 mm gap on each side of the gate, I am left with a space of 95 mm.

the ledge on the pillar is 120mm on the top and gradually reduces to 110 mm as you go down, ie, it is not straight (diy by previous owner).

any thoughts?
