decking planter box for herbs

I was thinking about using my merbau decking off-cuts to create some small planter boxes to attach to the fence to grow some herbs in, pretty new to the game so im unsure about leaching/contaminants getting into the soil, wanting to keep it as organic and safe as possible so just after some advice as to whether or not i need to line the inside of the boxes or if they are fine as is ?
