How to build a front fence?

Hello

I would like to build a front fence in the Brisbane area using "I" beams, concrete or wooden sleepers(horizontal) down the bottom then use horizontal steel decorative screens up the top. Fence is approximately 10m x 1.8m.

Do you have a video on how to do this?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your fencing idea.

Using Galintel 100 x 2400mm Galvanised Steel Heavy Duty Retaining Wall Post H-Section as a fence post is possible and installing a sleeper such as the 200 x 75mm 2.4m Treated Pine Sleeper H4 or the Pioneer 200 x 75mm 2m Grey Smooth Reinforced Concrete Sleeper can be done. However, you'll need to be more specific in regards to the steel decorative screens you are referring to.

Please note that due to the weight of the I beam, it might be necessary to engage the services of an engineer or fencing professional to determine how deep the I beam will need to be buried and how large the footing will need to be or if extra supports will need to be added since they will be standing independently.

The only steel screen panels I can find on the Bunnings website are the Jack Rainforest Outdoor Oxy-Shield Screen Panel, Walpix 1775 x 875 x 0.95mm Perforated Pre-Painted Metal Decorative Screen Folded Profile Splash - Basalt - 0.95mm Basalt which needs to be specially ordered and the Jack Matrix 1800 x 900 x 6mm Charcoal Ferns Screen Panel which is made from plastic. One possible way to anchor these panels to the I beam is to use angle brackets or aluminium angles cut to size. 

For this fence build I feel that you could use a standard 100 x 100mm 2.4m Post H4 Treated Pine Wet CCA - 2.4m and still keep all the other parts you wanted on your fence idea. It would be easier to work with and would be more affordable.
