What treatment is used on fencing plinth boards?

I'm just wanting to know if Bunnings plinth board is CCA treated? I built a vege patch with it a few years ago, lined with builders plastic and painted but recently came to realise that fence palings are still sold with CCA treatment.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

CCA treatment is used with our landscaping timbers, including plinths, posts, fence rails and palings.

Our H3 framing, such as 70x45 and 90x45 uses a proprietary water based treatment called T3 Green. Further information can be found here T3 Green, H3 Treated Pine | Hyne Timber.

With any treated timber, it is advisable to wear a mask and gloves while handling and cutting these timbers.

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for the quick response. Out of interest has it been that way for the last number of years (say last 5) across all Vic stores or has CCA treated H3 framing timber also been sold at Bunnings?

I ask as some H3 framing timber appears to have been used in stud wall framing and sub floor in a Reno that was done a few years ago and I'm concerned about arsenic risk.

Hi @john85,

I've been with Bunnings for 10 years, and in my time, the H3 framing has been supplied by Hyne Timbers. Hyne's original T3 Green treatment was rolled out in 2006, so if the timber is from around 5 years ago, it won't be CCA-treated.

There should be a stamp on the timber that can help identify where it was produced and what treatment was used.

You can see some examples here - Codes, labels and branding | EPA.

Have a look and see if you can see any manufacturer's mark on the timber and if so, snap some photos. We should be able to identify the timber based on this.
