How to install VJ panelling under a roof?

Hi, im looking at installing VJ panelling on the underside of our outdoor entertainment area. the area is fitted with a colour bond roof which protects the area from rain etc. Should i install the wet area VJ boarding or would the std be okay.

There would be a gap of around 40mm between the boards and the colour bond roof, should i put a "pink bats" or similar in this gap as an insulation.

lastly when i cut the boards to fit what sealant should i use on the ends of the boards to protect them from weather.

In an outdoor area, you would have to use either the EasyCraft EasyVJ100 Semi Exterior or James Hardie Hardie Groove Lining, each of which has its own set of installation requirements.

When reading these installation guides, make sure to note the framing requirements and the screw and glue patterns, as these must be achievable with the framing of your roof. If it is not, additional framing will need to be added. Noting that you have only a 40mm gap between the colorbond and the bottom of the framing, which is the profile of a roof batten, I'd say there's a good chance you'd need to add additional framing.

While there isn't a requirement for you to install insulation in the ceiling cavity, it would certainly help to keep it warm in winter and cool in summer. Some ceiling insulation is definitely worth considering.

Both EasyVJ and Hardie Groove require an expansion gap around all edges, so the cut ends would need to be covered by a trim, which can then be sealed with No More Gaps.
