How to convert fixed table legs so they are removable?

I have a 750mm x 750mm x 81mm pine table. The legs are secured with a kerf corner bracket to an apron. I would like to make the legs removable/portable. How do I do this? Although there is an apron can I use a mounting plate with screw in furniture leg studs? Will the apron block the actual square leg from screwing in?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your table.

I propose replacing the nut on the nut and bolt configuration of the table with Pinnacle M10 Stainless Steel 316 Wing Nuts - 2 Pack (double check for size). Once the nuts are removed you should be able to pull the leg out. But if there are dowels or biscuits holding the leg to the apron then they will need to be cut off. In this configuration the table will not be as secure, but it is the least invasive conversion you can apply at short notice.

Another method is to build square slots for each leg under the table or use furniture metal plates and screw the leg onto the table.

Don't the legs already seperate when you remove the two nuts from the metal bracket securing them to the frame?

I am thinking along the lines of @Nailbag and @EricL as well.

But I was looking for a "t handle socket wrench" style tool, I am sure I have seen one at Bunnings but cant find it. Will have a look next time I go 🙂

If you search goohgle for "t handle socket wrench" you will see what I mean. I am thinking of clamping the correct size of socket plus wrench under the table so you could turn the table on its siude and the tool is there to take the legs off type deal.

The tables I have removed legs on have most been just those two nuts and the legs pop off, tho the dowl @EricL mentions is something to keep an eye out for.
