Hi,
I'm currently in the middle of my project to renovating my 50 year old house. After the removal of the ceiling plaster in the living/ kitchen I found that the ceiling joist are relatively uneven and it would look ugly to just put new plaster on it.
I would like to ask if you could help me with the layout of the furring channels and selection of plasterboard.
The room is an open space in a slight L-shaped and has a dimension of 7m x 7.4m for the lounge and 2.5m x 4.3m for the kitchen.
I would like to install rondo furring channels to even out the ceiling but I'm unsure if I should use rondo 301 or 308 (16mm). The 308 seem to be the slightly better choice but the manual states that 301 should be used for residential ceilings.
My ceiling joist are 600mm apart and I planned to place the new furring channels 450mm apart and secure them at each joist.
But how far from the wall should the first and last furring channel be placed to support the corners?
Should the 142 wall track be used as well?
The wall hight to the ceiling is around 2420mm and the new wall plasterboard would just leave around a 10mm gap to the bottom and top.
Should I install the the new wall plasterboard first to ensure its screwed into the top plate and then install the ceiling channels and plasterboard?
The old plasterboard on the ceiling was 13mm thick but I would like to either use 10mm SHEETROCK ONE or 10mm supaceil for the ceiling plaster would either of those 10mm plasterboards be suitable or should I go with 13mm?
I hope you can help me with my project.
