How to determine load bearing walls?

Hi all,

As per the snap below I m considering demolishing the walls with the red cross and reinstating new walls in blue colour to extend the WIR.

I have checked all the plans and cannot see any internal load bearing walls, so my question is should I be concern that any of those walls might be load bearing ?

Also below a section of the roof plan, does anyone know what is shown in the section which I m pointing with orange arrow ?

Hi @m-ivanov,

Structural drawings can provide strong indications, but unfortunately, it is not usually possible to definitively work out the load-bearing nature of a wall from floor plans alone, and I am certainly not qualified to make this determination. I'd suggest you speak with a licensed builder or building inspector for their assistance with this. They will likely need to enter your roof cavity to see how the roof trusses interact with these walls to make this determination.

I am also unsure what the detail shown in your second image is, although I suspect it is a tie-down rod that connects the roof with the foundation of your home. I'm sure the builder or building inspector would be able to advise.
