Hi all,
We bought a 1970s house that was pretty much all in original condition except for (we believe) the kitchen which may have been updated in the 90s.
The house is small, and the kitchen and dining area absolutely tiny! I’ve attached a floor plan to give you an idea. We want to combine the ‘dining’ and kitchen area into one larger kitchen. We have already removed partition wall to the living area as we wanted to open up the space. The oven and microwave is now adjacent to the oven and sits flush with it.
What we need:
We need your advice!! Big guidance is needed here. It’s our first kitchen renovation so we really don’t know what we are doing and we’ve always had kitchens on the smaller side. I’ve been recommended to have a look into the Kaboodle range at Bunnings and get a design drawn up. I’ve seen on a previous kitchen renovation post here that a staff member created a rendered image of a kitchen design to help someone out - I would love it if someone could do that for me! Even better if there are multiple people who come up with different ideas so we can see other suggestions and inspirations.
What we are looking for:
- We are blocking up the window in the dining area and want to build a wide pantry on along this wall. The fridge will be up against the wall that the laundry shares, so will be next to the pantry.
- A single unit that combines a cooktop and oven where the current stovetop is in the floorplan.
- Adjacent to this cooktop and oven unit, where the pantry is in the floor plan, we want to end the kitchen with a tall appliance cupboard to keep the microwave and coffee machine.
- The dishwasher to be moved a little closer to the sink but along that same wall
- We want an island bench where we can have some stools. It would be to break up the kitchen and living areas
I hope that is clear! And I really hope I can see some ideas and inspiration, better yet for a drawing of a potential plan! We are feeling quite overwhelmed with it all.
