How to fix gap between hybrid floorboards?

Hello,

I have recently renovated my Kitchen including changin the water lines, so I had to partially change my kitchen hybrid floor board. I now have this huge gap between the new and the old ones. Could you please advise how best to fix this gap? 

Additional context: as much as I tried to level to new floor side with the old one, there is a very minor misalignment although doesn't bother me. Someone suggested to screw the boards together and fix the gap but I am not sure screwing is the right approach. I am afraid the boards might break or split. So need I need something flexible enough to tolerate the misalgined level but not too visible on the eyes like the T joints (horizontal lines in the joints vs vertical veins in the boards).

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

As hybrid flooring is a floating floor system, you couldn't screw the boards down as it would stop them from being able to expand and contract. This would lead to the boards warping and buckling over time.

My suggestion is to install a floating floor trim such as this Roberts Silver Floating Floor Senior Trim or this Roberts Bronze Floating Floor Senior Trim, which will cover the gap, account for the slight misalignment and still allow for the slight expansion and contraction that the flooring needs.

They are installed using Roberts Ramp And Cover Trim Plugs, which are concealed beneath the trim once it is installed.

This may require you to widen the gap slightly. If this is the case, then you could use a multitool to cut the tips of the board to widen the gap.
