If your clothesline is not rotating and will not raise or lower when the handle is turned, this may indicate that the winding mechanism has seized, the internal cable has failed, or there is significant wear within the gearbox assembly. On older clotheslines, these can be quite common issues.
As a first step, I'd recommend checking for any visible damage, corrosion, or obstructions around the winding handle and centre post. Applying a suitable penetrating lubricant such as https://www.bunnings.com.au/wd-40-300g-specialist-fast-release-penetrant_p0019344 to the moving parts may help if the mechanism has seized.
If this isn't enough, I'd suggest you follow the guidance shown in this Hills Help Centre post. Try physically lifting the top of the clothesline while rotating the handle. This could be enough to get things moving.
If these options do not help, then there may be a broken internal part, which would generally mean replacing the clothesline. The problem with my clothesline is internal mechanism. The gears are worn out. I would like to know where to buy the parts needed and can you recommend a repairman for this problem.

I have contacted Hills and can confirm that they still offer gearbox repair kits for some older rotary clothesline models.
The best next step would be to visit the Special Orders team at your nearest Bunnings store. They can take photos of your clothesline and submit them to Hills for assessment. Hills will then be able to confirm whether replacement parts are available for your specific model.
If the required parts are available, our Special Orders team can arrange the order for you.
Please note that availability will depend on the age and model of the clothesline.
