How to paint a corrugated verandah ceiling?

HI,

I want to paint the underside of my corrugated verandah ceiling with antique white paint and then paint the support struts in a charcoal black.

I was going to paint the underside of the corrugated with a paint sprayer and then the support struts with a brush.

My question is what type of paint should l  use in the paint sprayer for the underside of the corrugated metal?

Will a pressure washer be enough to clean the underside of the corrugated before painting?

Is a primer needed?

A pressure washer will certainly be helpful for cleaning the underside of the verandah, but I wouldn't rely on it alone. I'd recommend giving the sheets a good scrub with a stiff-bristled broom and sugar soap to remove the built-up dirt, grime and other contaminants.

You could pressure wash before and after scrubbing, which should cut down considerably on the amount of manual cleaning required. Allow everything to dry thoroughly before painting.

Provided the surface is clean you do not need a primer and can use an exterior acrylic paint like Dulux Weathershield in your sprayer for the Antique White finish.

Be particularly careful with overspray, as spraying corrugated sheets overhead can create a significant amount of airborne paint. Appropriate respiratory and eye protection will be important, along with thoroughly masking the surrounding area.
