Hello, I'm.having issues with this toilet roll holder sinking and getting progressively looser. I took it a part a d the actual fitting in the wall is pretty secure. Is it that the grub screw is too small? One put back together the roll holder AGM just sinks gown again. Any advice is much appreciated! 😊
Hi @CooperK,
If the mounting plate is still solidly attached to the wall but the toilet roll holder itself is sagging, then there's a good chance the issue is related to the grub screw or how it engages with the mounting plate.
I'd remove the holder and have a close look at the mounting plate. Is there a small groove, recess or hole that looks like it should line up with the grub screw? If so, it's possible the holder has become slightly misaligned, and the grub screw is no longer engaging where it is supposed to. If you could take some photos showing the underside of the plate where the grub screw hits, this could certainly help.
Alternatively, the point where the grub screw bears against the mounting plate may simply have worn down over time, allowing the holder to slip even when the screw is tightened. You could try replacing the existing grub screw with a slightly longer one of the same thread so it can engage more positively with the plate. If you'd like to give this a try, I'd suggest heading in store with the grub screw for comparison purposes and grabbing a replacement grub screw in the corresponding thread size and seeing if it holds things better than the current one.
If the mounting point itself has worn significantly, though, there's a good chance the most practical solution will be to replace the toilet roll holder.
Let me know what you think and if you have further information or questions to ask, please don't hesitate to add them to the discussion.

I had a similar issue with a toilet roll holder, externally looking like yours but a slightly differently grub screw mechanism.
Your wall mount made me remember making a replacement bracket for a community member some time ago. Back then, when I drilled the underside for the tapered grub screw - I thought why not just drill all the way through that pin with a 3.3mm drill and tap it to create a M4 thread.
Could you do the same?
But personally - I'd ditch the whole thing and go with an evekare product. It'll never droop.
