Hi all,
I'm planning to build this pergola and decking. The house currently does not have enough downpipes so I wanted to add at least one (or maybe two) to the left as part of the building project. The only drain I have access to is on the right hand side. To hide the stormwater pipes I am wanting to run them underneath the decking but this will mean that the water will have to run verticle for like 500mm (see the pic of the right hand side) before going horizontal and out to the drain. To achieve this I am going to use a "charged line" where the run of stormwater pipes underneath the decking has a fall of 1%.
Few questions about this:
I can't find any examples of charged lines where the water is actully pushed verticle, is this ok? (I think it should be)
From the pic of the right hand side you get the idea that I want to put the downpipe from the guttering of the pergola into the top of the charged line, is this ok? (I think it should be)
My backyard is higher at the back and slopes down toward the house. To ensure that there is drainage for any water that may run toward the house and underneath the decking, I was thinking of making the stormwater pipe underneath the decking be a "French drain". Is this ok? Can I mix a French drain with a charged line? (I'm thinking not)
Thanks in advance.
