Thanks so much <LI-USER uid="22750"></LI-USER> . Wanting a hardwood and affordability weighed into our decision making. We were lucky enough to come across a supplier in Adelaide for the Belian. We really loved the colour and when we did a bit of research on the timber we found that its durability in and above ground is excellent, and it is resistant to termites! We did have to purchase a whole sling so we should have plenty to go around the new studio which is currently under construction atm.

Every outdoor entertaining area needs a kitchenette.

This design is all Sarah's!

We've used treated pine to build the frame so it lasts better in case it gets wet from prevailing weather or when we are washing down the deck etc.

The bench top is 1.5 Interbuild Project Panels.

Cupboard is backed with OSB board, it's quite cost effective and water resistant.

Panels and doors made out of Tasmanian Oak and Marine Ply.

All hardware purchased from Bunnings.

Hi All,

Wanted to share with you our new deck. Approx. 60sqm in size.

- Treated pine for bearers and joints

- Belian (Malaysian Hardwood) decking

- Finished with an oil.

Happy to answer any other questions you might have.

First board!

Over the weekend we completed a little project - we turned our skinny posts into something pretty amazing.

We even completed a DIY tutorial with all the links to a Bunnings shopping list if you wanted to try doing it yourself. www.Hamptonsinhighfields.com/blog

NB: we have a 6-10mm gap so it’s allows for both ventilation and water run off. The new structure does not touch the ground and the original stirrup is still in place preventing termites to climb. We also have an Instagram full of inspirational ideas 💡www.instagram.com/hamptonsinhighfields

Hi

Just thinking this through then, is it worth the extra hassle to put them into a mortar bed or should I just lay them on the roadbase and sand? Still going with the 10cm of roadbase and 3cm of sand.

It's only for a patio base.

Thanks.

i have a concern because from the photo the existing floor drain was there to help remove excess water from back yard run off. now you have repurpose it the excess water will pool under your new deck.

ok, need more photo's so advice is limited

first off what type of deck to you want, because if you want tiles the exposed aggregate concrete slab just needs to be cleaned properly to accept tiles. then you can extend in concrete or concrete decking sheets

Also the veranda roof has caused the eaves to rot, this will need to be repaired and i would suggest a new veranda roof too. the guttering changes should also considered too. when building over the raised garden bed, make sure to empty or remove it as it will cause issues as it will retain water.

Hi <LI-USER uid="23318" login="bsdll"></LI-USER>,

As per the Tuscan Path guidelines, the tiles are to be laid into a standard mortar mix. Mortar mixes are fairly similar across the board, so what you have selected should be suitable.

You won't be using the mortar to glue the tiles down like with an adhesive. It is used to bed the tiles into, and tapping them down with a mallet sets them in place. If you had a solid substrate, like a concrete slab, and tried to glue the tiles to it with mortar, it would need a bonding agent. This could be the scenario with bonding agents you're running into.

Mitchell

Thanks for the quick reply.

They will be going down on 10cm of road base and then 3cm mortar. That seems to be the general guide from my research.

I am in Perth, so was just going to use the Westbuild General Purpose mortar. Will that provide the correct bond?

They are 1200x600 tiles so I want to avoid any potential failures beforehand. So many search results said to use a bonding agent, even on mortar.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community <LI-USER uid="23318" login="bsdll"></LI-USER>. It's amazing that you've joined us, and I'd be delighted to assist you with your project.

Can I please clarify if you are bedding these tiles down onto soil/sand with mortar, or are you glueing them down to a concrete slab?

If you are tamping down the soil, applying sand and then your mortar bedding layer, then no bonding agent is required in this installation. The porcelain tiles will adhere correctly, and Tuscan Path has advised that no bonding agent is needed. They do advise that you tap the pavers with a mallet to ensure they bed down into the mortar layer sufficiently.

If you want to glue the tiles down to a solid substrate like a concrete slab, you would first prime the surface with Dunlop 1L Multipurpose Water Based Primer and then apply your Dunlop 20kg Universal Tile Adhesive.

Please let me know if you have further questions or need assistance.

Mitchell

Hi,

I have done a bit of research on laying porcelain pavers and it says it's best to use a bonding agent because they are not porous so need help to grip the mortar. Does anyone have any experience with the best bonding agent to use? There are a few on the Bunnings site but they don't really seem to be a 'general' one, they want to use their own other products. I emailed Tuscan Path but they just said contact a professional, which is lousy support for their own products.

Thanks.

Hi <LI-USER login="-Mel" uid="22623"></LI-USER>,

I can't wait to see a sketch of what you want to achieve. The step-by-step guide on how to build a dog kennel looks like a great place to start and even includes the corrugated roof you were after. You could also substitute the timber cladding sides for Colorbond. The Colorbond is definitely chew-proof and, if sealed correctly, would be waterproof. Just make sure you round any exposed corners over and where the sheets meet, you should clad the join with some timber. This will prevent your pups from injuring themselves.

I've been told that my pallet cubby house would make a great chicken coop, so I wouldn't be at all offended if you wished to turn it into a cute little dog house.

I look forward to following along with your project and providing assistance along the way.

Dog kennel advice

Hi, first time posting here

Would love some ideas please 🙏

I'm needing a dog kennel but I can't find anything to suit our needs so I may have to get creative.

Colourbond, small patio and an awning for two kelpie x.

Colourbond steel would be suitable for a kennel to be chew proof & weather proof?

A patio would prevent alot of dirt, mud etc from going inside the kennel, also a place the dogs can lay down.

The awning for shade and shelter from rain.

I can upload a drawing or photo of what I'm after. Has any of you clever people made something like this?

I have thought about adding Colourbond to the outside of a cubby house or a kennel or even a childs bed frame called a "house bed" then adding my own awning and small patio.

Would love to hear back, thanks

Hi <LI-USER uid="19424"></LI-USER>,

I've done some investigating, and it seems the width of your door still falls slightly short of even the adjustable Protector Aluminium 808-848 x 2030-2070mm White Adjustable Security Door. The 18mm difference would be too large to fit this or any of our doors stocked in-store.

Our supplier Cowdroy offers a custom made service on screen doors, and the Birchgrove seems to be the closest match style-wise. If you see one of the helpful team members at your local store's Special Order desk, they'll be happy to assist you in filling out the details of your required size and placing your order.

Please let me know if you have questions or need assistance with this process.

Hi <LI-USER uid="19160"></LI-USER>,

I'll tag in our resident chicken expert <LI-USER uid="9368"></LI-USER> to see if she has any fantastic suggestions for you.

The most budget-friendly option I can think of is to make a chicken run out of Saxon 90cm x 10m Chicken Wire Netting and Gardman 25 x 25mm 1500mm Hardwood Garden Stakes. Although possibly more expensive than what you were looking for, I did find the Rapidmesh 2290 x 2290 x 1800mm Chain Link Animal Enclosure quite good value for money. It's certainly a solid enclosure that will last many years.

I never liked the loop fence but will improvise ....keep the structure and redesign.

I cut the loops off yesterday with my new angle grinder...

I will post the next change adding scrolls balls and a front entrance gate..

790mm is quite a small width for a screen or security door. If you could provide some information on the style of screen door you are looking for, I can investigate any suitable options. Please add the link to the style you are after.

Hi <LI-USER uid="19424"></LI-USER>,

The combination of a Karcher K2 Full Control Home Pressure Cleaner and Karcher High-Pressure Cleaner Pipe Cleaning Kit would be perfect for cleaning pipes, drains, downpipes and clearing away blockages.

I haven't personally used the pipe cleaning kit, but I'm sure any of our members that have would be more than happy to share their thoughts. However, I have used the K2 Karcher and can say it performs admirably for most jobs around the house and garden. If you have some very large surfaces, such as a long driveway, then you might like to consider going for a slightly more powerful unit such as the Karcher K3 Corded Full Control High-Pressure Home Kit as it will get the job done faster.

I look forward to hearing any feedback our members can provide and what your decision will be.

Thanks for that image, <LI-USER uid="23286"></LI-USER>. I'd suggest you form up the edges with some timber. Paint the entire surface with Bondcrete and then pour a runny mix of Bastion 20kg General Purpose Cement over the area. If you can get the timber form level, then you can fill the cement to the top to ensure uniformity. Some vibration of the tabletop will need to be done to ensure the mix penetrates down into the cracks. At a minimum, this can be achieved by tapping around the perimeter with a rubber mallet.

Let me mention <LI-USER uid="12068"></LI-USER> to see if he has any other suggestions.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community <LI-USER uid="23286" login="twochicks"></LI-USER>. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question.

It would really help our members provide some excellent solutions if you would like to upload the tabletop's image and the gaps you want to fill. I suspect you'll need to use a product similar to Prep 750g Watercrete Multi-Purpose Patching Cement. However, there is a chance that it is a different colour from your original mix and will be noticeable as a filled area.

You could wet the table down and then use your original concrete mix to fill the gaps. The aggregate can be sifted out of the mix if it is too large to fit into the gaps. You can paint some Bondcrete into the gaps and let it dry before filling it with the concrete. That will help the new concrete bond to the old.

Depending on what these large gaps/cracks look like, you might fill them with oxide tinted cement, which perhaps could become a feature.

I look forward to seeing some tabletop images, and please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Thanks, Jane. The issue with toileting near food is that a lot of the decking will be a long, narrow strip (about 13m long) - so while he eats at one end, there's plenty of length for him to wee on while still being well away from his dinner.

That certainly looks like a very functional bike rack. Does it fold away as well? That would be super if it did. Are there any details on its construction that you'd like to share with other members? I trust some basic steps would be appreciated if anyone wanted to build this themselves.

I'll be looking forward to your next project.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community <LI-USER uid="23275" login="HQ"></LI-USER>. It's fantastic to have you join us, and many thanks for your question.

Whether you need council approval would depend on what type of renovation you intend on completing, and I'd suggest that the best place to ask at would be your local council. As council requirements vary considerably around Australia, it's unlikely that there will be one rule for all councils. However, you might like to provide some details of the projects you had in mind and I trust our helpful members will contribute their own experiences around requirements.

I look forward to hearing about your plans.

Before you head into a store, I would advise spending some time on a plan <LI-USER uid="23256" login="fabrizio1990"></LI-USER>. You'll need to work out these bars' heights and what lengths of timber you need to create the frames. Once you have worked that out, it would be worth having a chat with a helpful team member in-store about your project and then having them cut the timber to the appropriate lengths.

Hi <LI-USER uid="20992"></LI-USER>,

It appears you would need:

90 x 45mm at 450mm x 8 for the legs.

90 x 45mm at 580mm x 2 for the backrest.

90 x 45mm at 575mm x 4 for frames.

90 x 45mm at 440mm x 4 for frames.

60 x 19mm at 575mm x 4 for subframes.

60 x 19mm at 420mm x 4 for subframes.

86 x 19mm at 620mm x 4 for backrest slats.

86 x 19mm at 529mm x 12 for seat and table slats.

Keep in mind the base of the table and the chairs are exactly the same. The only difference is the chair has the backrest added.

Please let me know if you need further information or had questions. We'd also love to see the results of your project when you are done.

Hi <LI-USER uid="23256" login="fabrizio1990"></LI-USER>,

For someone skilled at welding, these would be relatively easy projects to construct. Unfortunately, I do not fit into that category, so I've attempted to render an option in timber. If you did want to start your journey into the world of welding, an Ozito 90A Gasless MIG Welder would be a great place to start.

You could make the frame from Treated Pine Outdoor Timber Framing 140 x 45mm, and considerable bracing would need to be used on the pull-up bar for it to become rigid. We also have a range of galvanised pipe which should be adequate for the crossbar.

The timber can be bolted or screwed together, and you should find Pryda nailing plates useful as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need assistance.

Hi <LI-USER uid="23239" login="tpb"></LI-USER>,

Oiling a deck once a year would be considered standard maintenance under normal conditions. If you're looking to prevent urine from penetrating the timber, I would advise you to oil the deck three times a year at a minimum. Since you'll be applying oil regularly, it won't be a big ordeal and will probably only require one quick coat. I'd suggest you invest in a Cabot's Deck Coat Applicator and Pole and a Cabot's 15L Deck Hand Bucket to apply your oil, as they'll make the job a breeze. The key to this will be doing water droplet tests at regular intervals throughout the year. If the droplet gets absorbed into the timber instead of beading on top of it, you know it's time for a re-coat.

Spotted Gum and Ironbark would both be suitable choices and far superior to Merbau or Pine. Ironbark has a hardness of 14KN, which exceeds Spotted Gum's 11KN. The harder the better, and I would advise you to go with the Ironbark.

I look forward to hearing about your choices and following along with the project. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi <LI-USER uid="23125" login="Zhenny"></LI-USER>,

You'll definitely need to raise the joists above the concrete as that helps inhibit decay and allows airflow. The more room you can leave, the better. You can either use plastic packers, pedestal feet, or angle brackets.

It depends on how your frame is constructed as to how you attach your first and last joist. They can be nailed directly into the joist perpendicular to them with multigrips or hung with joist hangers. Since the joist hanger will be on the very end of the joist, you can bend one of the attachment wings giving you the ability to nail it on.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Hi <LI-USER login="PrideKnight" uid="23211"></LI-USER>,

I apologise for the delay in my reply.

Great idea with adding that drainage, standing water under a deck is never fantastic, and the humidity associated with it can shorten the timber's life.

Creating an over-sized slab and running your bearers and joists over it is one way to do it. Alternatively, you could create a slab the same size as the spa base and run the deck structure up next to it.

Please keep us updated. I'll be looking forward to seeing your results.

You might find the advice offered to <LI-USER uid="15609"></LI-USER> in this discussion about What type of decking is anti-scratch specially with dogs? helpful. I'm hoping that <LI-USER uid="2764"></LI-USER> and <LI-USER uid="3777"></LI-USER> might be able to offer you some guidance about which option would better suit your needs. Dogs generally won't toilet close to where they eat, so perhaps you could feed your dog on the deck?

Hello Beautiful people

Inspired by many contributors and comforted by experts, I am going to start my backyard decking project.

Have placed an order for H3 pine 90 x 45 for the base and 90 x 19 marbau on top. Part of the deck will be on concrete and part over the soil.

keeping gap 600mm between the joist and using H4 90 x90 as post.

Hi all,

We're getting decking installed soon. Originally I was looking at EkoDecking for the low maintenance requirements and because it would be resistant to dog pee soaking in and smelling. But I left samples outside for a few days to check for how hot it gets - so hot! And I've also seen product reps recommending against it for large dogs given the scratching.

So I've decided to go with a hardwood and ensure it's maintained well - oiled 1-2 times a year. We'll also work on trying to train our boy to wee in other areas (but it's a courtyard so there aren't many), and rinse off any pee straight away when we see it happen. But I'd also like to choose a timber that's most resistant to pee soaking in - if there is such a thing. I've narrowed the choices down to spotted gum or ironbark - is either of those better than the other for our needs?

Edited to add: the decking will be low to the ground.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the great reply Mitchell,

Just a couple more questions:

1. With the section of joists sitting on concrete, would there be issues when it rains where there might be some water sitting around? Or should I attend lift it slightly with packers?

2. I am thinking of using joist hangers for most connections. I assuming I won't be using those for the end/corner pieces (first and last joist)?

Hi <LI-USER uid="23063"></LI-USER>
Thanks for the detailed diagrams, makes things much easier.
Just to sort of unpack this whole plan.
- A charged line can be very effective however the junction you have created will not work. Where the right-hand downpipe meets the uprising charged line coming from the left is the main problem. You will have two water flows meeting head-on and they will both back-up. See the attached quick diagram but you may be able to work around this by creating a 'V' or wishbone junction however I would recommend that the pipe they meet is a larger diameter. Also... you need more than 1˚ of fall. I believe 1 in 100 is standard.
- A thought... Could you instead put a 5000L water tank on the left and run the overflow to a rain garden?

- I have concerns about the awing-house roof interface and how water is being managed there. What will happen if the awning gutters overflow to the house side, which they will?
- A French drain is a rubble or gravel drain, these days often with an ag-pipe down the centre. Two issues there... They can require maintenance as they can clog up with silt over time - you won't be able to do that. And they still need fall and they still need to actually drain somewhere. In a landscape situation they can be used as dispersion & absorption drains but I'm guessing that you don't want the foundation of your house waterlogged...

Hi,

Thanks for the reply Red. Yep I'm a planner, gotta make sure I get things sorted before I start construction.

Ok, so the French drain underneath the decking is out

With the recommendation to use a 100mm downpipe I still have a concern/question. I did these quick mock ups of the existing guttering, downpipe and ground level so you can see. About half of the house goes to the one downpipe. I have an old house and currently when it rains heavy the gutters overflow above the back door opening. This is why I wanted to add the new downpipe to the left of the pergola. I don't have enough space to be able to increase the fall on the existing gutter.

I could increase the diameter of the existing downpipe from what is probably 70-75mm to 100mm but I still feel that this is not enough to prevent the overflow with heavy rain? Do you think this would be sufficient? If I still add a new downpipe to the left of the pergola I could run the new stormwater pipes around the outside of the new decking but I'm not sure how much that will help me? I would still need to put a fall on the stormwater and this would mean that I am still relying on a "charged line" to get the water up to ground level to be able flow into the drain. I'm still unsure what to do here?

Existing downpipe

Existing gutteringGround level

Rotten weatherboard replacement

Whilst I was watering my plants on Valentines day, morning, I noticed that one of the lower weatherboards had a small lineal depression on it. I decided to push it in with my finger nail and it was a rotted weatherboard. I decided that I would clean it up and fill in the damaged area. As I started removing the rot, it got worse, luckily I have some spare weatherboards, so I decided to replace the damaged one. When I removed the weatherboard, there was more damage that could be seen on the face of it.

I also left a gap between the base board and weatherboard to allow any water to run off the weatherboard.

This how I spent my Valentines Day.

Thanks Mitchell, really appreciate the insight.

just planning on replacing the decking, the bearers and joists seem to be in good condition, but the previous owner didn’t leave any space between decking boards, and when I pulled some up to get access to the electrical conduit for my lecco, I saw a lot of standing water that I’ll need to address with a drainage channel, but has already evaporated considerably with airflow today.

I may go down the concrete slab route, if I wanted to put merbau over that slab, I imagine I should level off the ground, install the slab to below the level of the current deck bearers and then run them over joists over that?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community <LI-USER uid="23211" login="PrideKnight"></LI-USER>. It's great that you've joined us and many thanks for your questions.

When you mention that you intend to replace all the aged timber with Merbau, is that just the decking or are you planning on replacing joists and bearers? As long as the new deck structure is butted up against the old and connected to it, I can't see anything wrong with running the decking boards across the two decks. An issue that might arise is any independent movement of the two structures could warp and twist decking boards that span them.

A deck that has a spa on it needs to be designed to support that weight. A general rule of thumb for a deck under 60cm tall is that you should double up on all the structure under the spa. So if you'd normally space joists at 600mm place them at 300mm, if your posts would be every 1000mm along a bearer space them at 500mm instead. If you were going to use 90 x 45mm timber for joists, use two at 180 x 90mm, etc. To calculate exact timber requirements, you'll need to look at the relevant timber span tables and building codes. Alternatively, you can employee the services of a qualified engineer to design the deck for you.

The other option is to have a concrete slab poured on that section to place the spa on. You can then build your deck structure up around it, make sure you allow access to any hatches or piping work.

Please let me know if you need further information or have questions.

Jumping into this convo as I’m looking to do similar (and this post is what bought me to workshop).

I get adding the second deck as a standalone and then bolting in, which is what I’m looking to do in the space in the attached image (from current deck to where the shed is).

my question is, as I’m planning to replace all the aged timber with merbau, can I extend that timber across both decks? I’m also planning for the new section to hold a 5 person spa, is there anything extra I should be doing to support that?

Hi <LI-USER uid="23063" login="ChrisNocker"></LI-USER>,

Its great to see you've already received a helpful reply from <LI-USER uid="1050" login="redracer01"></LI-USER> and he has covered my thoughts. The main issue I see is that in a heavy downpour the downpipe on the left is going to backfill up faster than the charged pipe is going to be able to release the water. Where is the stormwater line in this scenario? If it is on the right, can the connection be lowered 50cm to allow a suitable fall of all pipes into it?

Available timber lengths need to be accounted for in the design stage and can add to the cost of a project if there is going to be significant wastage. It's always something to consider when budgeting. Your suggested method of joining lengths is also a great option.

Many thanks for sharing your knowledge, and we look forward to hearing all about your projects around the house and garden. We'd encourage you to let us know if you ever need assistance or have something to share with the community.
I'll be looking forward to seeing those images of your patio area. As councils have the ability to set their own guidelines regarding facades of buildings, it would be hard for our members to offer suggestions that comply with your council's regulations.

It sounds like they might be in favour of non-permanent additions, which include outdoor blinds. Is there any reason you don't want to use them for your project, as they would certainly keep insects and the weather out of your patio?

Hello <LI-USER uid="23063"></LI-USER>

Looking at your drawing ( excellent illustration by the way Sketchup woop woop!!! ) the one degree slope will not be enough to empty out the line at the bottom. It will however act like a giant trap. Water will stay at the lowest point of your pipe run and will top off at the half meter point where it needs to over flow into the existing drain. Every time it rains water will flow through the trap but you will possibly get the following effects.

- Pipe water overflow - When there is too much water coming from the roof and gutter and the water in the pipe is not flowing out fast enough to accommodate the volume. This is caused by that trapped portion of your run which acts like a bottle neck to the speed and flow of water.

- Vacuum trap syndrome - When air is trapped in the down pipe due to its length and run. Usually happens with two story buildings a vacuum break is sometimes installed when the run is too long to avoid this occurrence.

Recommendation : Why not run a larger diameter down pipe on the right hand side near the drain. I suggest a 100mm down pipe to accommodate excess rain water to avoid having to run it under the deck. I suggest a 45 degree slope off the top of the gutter or start of the run to increase the waters velocity as it comes down the pipe. To increase the waters flow to the pipe you can increase the slope of the gutter by an extra 1 to 2 degrees.

French drain : If constructed wide enough and deep enough it should provide you with adequate drainage, however I would not place it under the deck. Should it ever get water logged you will need access to it to fix the issue. In some situations I would use the down pipe and french drain combo but in this instance I would rather you re-direct the water in to the drain. I hope these suggestions help. Good luck and stay safe.

Red

Hello <LI-USER uid="21162"></LI-USER>

Hello <LI-USER uid="21162"></LI-USER> and welcome to workshop. Depending on the size of rails of your fence, using a standard galvanized bracket on each end should be sufficient enough to hold your picket fence in place. I suggest galvanized so that it will be ok for outdoor use and will withstand the weather. Mounting on to the bricks you can use either galvanized dynabolts or a treated screw and a brick wall insert. I've attached some sample photos below.

Cheers,

Red

Shown as an example, please choose the size right for you!Shown as an example, please choose the right size right for you.

Picket fence inserts in brick wall

Hi All,

We have a brick front wall similar to this (without the hedge):

I'd like to put picket fencing in the gaps. My plan is to make the fencing panels to fit the gaps, then attach them to the bricks with some sort of bracket. Any ideas for how to do this?

TIA

Great work on the list of materials and tools! It's good to know what you're going to be up for and you can see if you've missed anything

Just remember with the timber lengths that you can't buy a lenth that is exactly 4m long (probably 4.2m or 4.8m is the closest and depending on stock availability). And also with the 7m length, timber does not come that long (probably 5.4m or 6m) so you'll have to buy two lengths and join them in some way. If it were me I'd join them using a half lap joint and coach bolts, making sure the joint is close to the bearer/support point below the joist.

Best of luck.

Edit: My comment about the lengths doesn't have as much relivance now that I see there is more than 1 page to this thread... dough. Looks great though.

Seeking stormwater plumbing advice

Hi all,

I'm planning to build this pergola and decking. The house currently does not have enough downpipes so I wanted to add at least one (or maybe two) to the left as part of the building project. The only drain I have access to is on the right hand side. To hide the stormwater pipes I am wanting to run them underneath the decking but this will mean that the water will have to run verticle for like 500mm (see the pic of the right hand side) before going horizontal and out to the drain. To achieve this I am going to use a "charged line" where the run of stormwater pipes underneath the decking has a fall of 1%.

Few questions about this:

I can't find any examples of charged lines where the water is actully pushed verticle, is this ok? (I think it should be)

From the pic of the right hand side you get the idea that I want to put the downpipe from the guttering of the pergola into the top of the charged line, is this ok? (I think it should be)

My backyard is higher at the back and slopes down toward the house. To ensure that there is drainage for any water that may run toward the house and underneath the decking, I was thinking of making the stormwater pipe underneath the decking be a "French drain". Is this ok? Can I mix a French drain with a charged line? (I'm thinking not)

Thanks in advance.

Front viewLeft viewRight view
