Should I use 5kg dry wall anchors or hooks ?

Thank you

Hi @judessc,

Thank you for your question about hanging a mirror on plasterboard.

It's great to see you've already had some advice from our helpful member @Dave-1.

With anything hung on plasterboard, the best solution is to screw it through the plasterboard into a stud. This transfers the load into the stud which is far better at bearing a load than plasterboard is.

The use of a stud finder makes this a straightforward exercise. You might like to check out How to use a stud finder for guidance.

If you are unable to find a stud in the location where you want to hang the clock, I would suggest using 2 x Ramset WallMate Plasterboard Anchor With Screws And Hooks as they are rated for 10kg each and come with hooks to hang your mirror from easily.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm hanging a few of these mirrors in the main living area, so I don't want the hooks to show once it's hung. Which one in the pic is best for this job ? Thank you

Hi @judessc,

Of the three products you've taken photos of, I would select the Ramset Super Wallmate toggle anchors on the right.

These anchors, as they are rated up to 20kg, are better at bearing a load than the other two and will be well hidden once the mirror is installed.

Let me know if you need assistance with anything else.

Hi @judessc,

I wouldn't advise that you use a nail. Nails are supposed to be flexible to allow for slight movement in timber. If you use a nail, there is potential that the weight of the mirror will bend the nail over time.

Where a stud is present, I'd advise you to use Zenith 50mm Countersunk Head Screws. This will give you plenty of embedment in the timber and plenty of strength.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
