I try to drill a hole on a door for a door lock. I bought a hole saw from Bunnings. When I drilled, the pilot drill bit was rotating which is good. But the cylindrical blade ate into the wood and refused to rotate. Basically the blade stopped while the drill bit was still running.
Hello @Makita
Thank you for sharing your question about your hole saw.
That is quite a mystery why the hole saw would stop spinning but the center part still rotates. Would it be possible for you to post a photo of hole saw that you used without the center part installed? We need to see if the center hole of the hole saw has been damaged in any way.
Generally, I would suggest double checking that the drill bit is secure and the grub screw holding it firmly in place. In correct installation will sometimes allow the bit to spin in place. It's important that the drill bit be fixed by the grub screw firmly on the flat section of the bit.
In regards to the hole saw itself; I suggest using a shifter to screw the nut securely making sure that the holes saw is firmly anchored to the center part. Once everything has been double checked, I suggest giving it another go. If the unit still fails to perform, I suggest bringing the hole saw back to the store you purchased it from and speaking to the tool specialist.
Tell them what's been happening, and the tool specialist will diagnose your hole saw kit and determine if there is something at fault.
If you need further assistance, please let me know.
