An easy console table project using recycled pallet timber and sage wood stain.

The project

This console unit is made with 100% recycled pallet wood. I made sure there were no nails and chose the best pieces that didn’t have any cracks in them.

I started with glueing four pieces of pallet timber together and allowing it to dry for 24 hours to create the console shelves.

To round the table, I drew a template until I was happy with the curve. I measured 200mm from the top of the board and this is where my curve ended. I clamped both boards together and sanded so they would be uniform. I cut 25mm strips of pallet with the table saw, and equally spaced them with an off cut of timber that was 25mm. I created the opening 250mm from the sides and worked around, nailing top and bottom.

I originally cut the thin strips to meet the bottom but ended up cutting them flush to the panels. I cut four 20 x 40 pieces for the legs, marked them and drilled in place. Once this was all nailed together, I gave it a light sand and stained with Rust-Oleum sage wood stain from Bunnings.

Absolutely stunning!!!! I’ve seen furniture where half dowels are used, but that ends up being absolutely unaffordable. What a fantastic idea to use pallet wood. May I ask where you got the stain? I had no idea there was a sage green version available!

@theparlourroom @Thank you. I purchased the wood stain from Bunnings on sale. I am not sure if it’s still available. It is Rustic sage from Rust oleum. One of my favourite colours!

Thanks @sandy_d  I couldn’t see it on their website, but I’ll take a look next time I’m in store (which will be very soon, as I’m always there!!)
