Building a low-lying deck using Ekodeck and installing Merbau panels maximised the usable area of this courtyard and hid an unsightly fence.

The project

The awkward layout of this courtyard made the area unusable. Building a low-lying Ekodeck maximised the usable space and Merbau fence panels created a beautiful privacy screen to block out the hideous fence. The best part is that they are pre-fabricated so the results are almost instant.

I was determined to do this project on my own. After watching a lot of tutorial videos and borrowing my partner's tools, I slowly chipped away at this, working through what seemed like difficult steps to be attempting for the first time on my own. There were a couple of tricky parts where my partner helped, but I’m proud to say this is about 95% all my work.
