The project

I built this workbench with plenty of storage. It's 3m long and 1.9 high and only took me two weeks to build it after work. All up it cost me around $600.

The vertical drawers are to hold 1L paint and stain cans. I can access the cans from both sides when open. I'm thinking of making some more so I can put spray paint cans as well, but I will need to use bungee to stop it from falling out.

I would prefer the T-track to be on top with a flip down stopper as it does get stuck in a few places. The track was super easy to cut. I used the drop saw with the normal blade to cut it. Once I cut it to size, I moved it about 1mm from the blade. I used 19mm kiln dried hardwood for the fence. I used a trimmer to cut out the groove, and did it in four passes because I was using a 10mm router bit and didn't want it to rip the timber apart.

I have also added a dust collector from the bottom (wish I thought of it at the start). Just waiting for the larger dust collector to arrive, I went for a twin bag 3HP model. I have a Full Boar dust collector but needed a bigger one for the new tools coming soon.

I used non structural form ply for the drawers and ply for the drawer bases. The drawer fronts are 18mm MDF with two coats of high build spray putty, sanded smooth, and then three coats of gloss black.

Kind of a Big Deal

I have just come across this posting. Very inspiring ideas...

I particularly like that long fence for the saw.  I gotta make myself one of those.

Thank you for sharing the project@Razzer .

Making a Splash

@Razzer

Definitely going to base my new workbench on this. I have a sliding saw also and I want to have dust collection with mine.

If you don't mind, what was approximate cost?
