Outdoor kitchen with sink and cladding

A simple yet stylish outdoor kitchen built for under $1300.

The project

We added timber cladding on a section of the brick wall and installed a bench and modern sink to make our decked outdoor area a little more functional for entertaining. It's also a handy area to use when working in our vegie garden. The build took us seven hours in total.

This is the deck area before the framing and cladding was done. Water was roughed with the waste inside the frame and the cladding will hide our waste and water lines to our sink to make it more appealing.

We used 70 x 45 timber for the frame, spaced out every 600mm vertically. We used direct stick cladding and a nail gun so nails can't easily be seen.

An Acacia laminated panel was used as our benchtop and a 100 x 100 post was used as supports for the legs. We installed a Caroma Flickmixer along with the Mondella Rococo sink from Bunnings.

Added additional cladding under the sink as I thought it being exposed was unappealing.

We stained the cladding using Feast and Watson screening oil and kitchen timber oil for the laminated panel. I changed the Flickmixer to a black one, the Dorf Flickmixer that's also from Bunnings. I think it looks better with the black.

I paid about $800 in materials, which includes plumbing supplies for rough in, timber framing and posts, sink, and stain and oils for cladding. The cladding was leftover from a job, and I had some plumbing fittings spare so just allow for that on top of my $800. If I were to buy everything it would’ve been around the $1300 mark.
