Garage makeover including storage and floor renovation

Just thought I would share where my garage renovation is at, it’s been tons of work but so rewarding, we bagged the brick, painted it, built cabinets from scratch and I carved custom doors I designed using my cnc machine!

Lots more including videos of this project and others at https://instagram.com/marikaknowsthings

Re: Garage makeover

Wow, @marikaknows! I love the custom doors and the bagged brickwork. As an estimate, how long do you think you've spent on this project?

You've created an astounding workspace which I trust will be a pleasure to build projects in.

Many thanks for sharing as I'm sure this will inspire many of our members.

Re: Garage makeover

Thank you!

That’s hard to estimate as we’ve been doing it on weekends, and around work and kids, I like to break down tasks to the time we have available so for example, we bagged the brick in one weekend, then let it dry for a week, then painted it in another weekend, meanwhile I would design and cost and order materials during the week, etc.

The floor took about two weekends due to prep process and dry times.

We built the freestanding CNC bench in a day.

It took one day to build the cabinet bases, and carcasses, and another day to lay the workbench, backsplash, and fit the shelves, as well as doing the filler pieces.

Carving the doors was another day and painting didn’t take long but because of undercoat + 2 top coats on 2 sides plus dry time before flipping them etc that has to be done in 1hr stints over a few days.

Sorry that got long winded I hope that helps!

Re: Garage makeover

Hi @StevieB we just built this scooter rack for the kids, next after that is some tool hanging, I think I’ll do pegboard over the white backsplash and paint it black to match the wall.

Re: Garage makeover

What a fantastic storage idea, @marikaknows. Your scooter rack looks both stylish and very practical. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I like your monochrome theme and look forward to seeing the pegboard.
