Top Cat and the gang as planters. If outside, leave the bottom open so the water doesn’t go on the wood. If inside, a saucer to catch the water, lift the plants out to water and drain.
MDF, screws 8g 40mm, paints and thin brushes.
Draw the faces in on paper, it’s easier than drawing on the mdf. Cut out the faces, with a lead pencil, draw all over the back. Now place the paper face up onto the mdf wood, draw over the previous lines, a faint image will appear in the wood. Cut them out. Mark
out the sides on the mdf, To save wood I intermingle two tails at a time.
Fine lines, either a long screw, dipped in paint, where the paint goes down screw. Or a texta, but the texta will fade.
Hi @Jamespeter100,
Love the planter.
I can't say I'm old enough to have seen Top Cat, but I'm sure plenty of our members will recognise it and it will bring back fond memories.
Thanks for sharing.
Jacob
Absolutely love this @Jamespeter100 and I loved watching Top Cat when I was a kid !!!!! Ahhhhhh the good old days 🤣🌿🌿
Now I’ll have to make an officer Dibble planter.
@Jamespeter100 - they really attractive. Did you do any treatment to MDF to use them outdoor?
Tip Top @J-P
Let me tag @Jamespeter100 as well to make them aware of your question. It appears that they just applied a heavy coat of paint but let's wait for Jamespeter100 to confirm. If you were to treat the MDF surface, I suggest using Crommelin 1L Flat Aquablock Waterproof Primer Undercoat in combination with Dulux 1L Vivid White Low Sheen Weathershield Exterior Paint.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
Re a treatment for the MDF, need to consider the cost, a length of Marine Ply with a sealer might be more cost effective. I buy marine ply for bird houses I make. I’ll also write in the paint names for each character. Stay tuned for that. With the colours it’s bright and snappy make the customer happy.
Thanks @Jamespeter100 . Let me try several thick layers of paint that @EricL suggested for name plate background that I am doing right now. (Lazy to buy something treated for it)
