What cement for deck footings?

Hi there.

In the Bunnings video for building a deck, the supplies list states General Purpose Cement but then in the video he states concrete for fixing the stumps in the ground. Is General Purpose Cement sufficient or does it need to be concrete? Thanks.

Re: What cement for deck footings?

Welcome to the Bunnings workshop community @AdamMc. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your decking question.

That should actually read concrete and not cement. Concrete is the correct product for creating footings for your deck posts because it includes aggregate, which makes it much stronger. Cement alone isn’t suitable for fixing stumps in the ground.

Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll make sure our team updates the materials list. Please let us know if you need any more help while constructing your deck.
